Volunteering to Make a Difference

Minis and Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers! The work of Minis and Friends is only possible with the help of extraordinary volunteers. Our volunteers not only help us with our mission to provide those in need with equine therapy, they also become our family.

We always need energetic people with compassionate hearts. That’s why the heart is part of our logo. We would love for you to join the Minis and Friends family. Our activities are “hands on”. First you will be trained, and then partnered with a miniature horse for a morning or afternoon event. You and your mini will be participating at a facility or an event in your community. You will learn more about Equine Guided Interactions (EGI), meet new and interesting people, and become an active part of helping others

 

Some of our volunteer positions are:

 

Mini Handlers (those that work with the minis during visits and events - we train you!)

Mini Welcomers (for those of us that like to talk and tell the public what we do and how we can come visit you!)

Mini Walkers (we plan on starting our Leisure Walks throughout the city- come walk or jog with a mini for exercise and fun!)

Fundraiser Volunteers (team up with others to raise funds to help keep our visits FREE in the community. Have fun, meet new people and spend time with the minis at each fundraiser event!)

Grant Writer (we need a grant writer volunteer or someone with grant writing experience. The little horses visits for free to most of our facilities and we need help to continue to make that happen!)

Media/Marketing Assistant (our volunteer Media/Marketing Director needs your help! Writing skills, public contacting, fund development - email volunteer on how you can be a part of this exciting team!)

Volunteer Hands-On Training

You must be registered to attend. Here's How!

 

Download and send to our Volunteer Coordinator the Volunteer Application @ Volunteers@minisandfriends.org. .

 

Application is in Word 2007. Click the link (application is in Word 2007) and fill out and return by EMAIL.

 

Once you have returned your application to the Volunteer Coordinator, we will send along dates of our next Volunteer Gatherings located in Austin, Buda/Dripping Springs, Hutto/ Round Rock or Wimberley currently every 6 weeks or so.

 

(Please note - our organization age is 14 and up with parent, effective 8/26/2011)

Many of our facilities we visit have AGE RESTRICTIONS 16 and up with parent.

 

We require 2 visits per month to remain active (approx 6-8 hours a month)

Students (College and HighSchool) 1 visit per month to remain active except during finals and breaks)

We also request a $15.00 admin fee that covers your Volunteer Folder, Mini Reader and after 3 visits your choice of a logo-t-shirt or logo cap.

 

All Mini-Owners are Adults as we are an Adult based organization due to the facilities in our primary focus area.
